About the event

Sun City Cup will be played at Karlstad curling rink and will be the last event on tour hosting 28 men's and 16 women's teams. The total purse will be 154 000 nok. 

All teams with get at least 4 games.

The event will be played 20-23rd of February. First games Thursday at 12:30 / 12:30pm. Final is being played Sunday 13:00 / 1pm.

Group stage

There are groups of 4 teams in both men's and women's divisions.

Men’s division: Top 4 ranked overall goes straight to quarterfinals. Overall ranked 5-12 plays a qualification game to reach the quarterfinals;

5-12, 6-11, 7-10, 8-9

Women’s division:

Each groupwinner goes straight to quarterfinals.

Overall ranked 5-12 plays a qualification game to reach the quarterfinals;

5-12, 6-11, 7-10, 8-9

Playoffs:

Highest ranked team from groupstage gets choice of hammer throughout the playoffs and will play the lowest ranked team from groupstage. The other team gets choice of stones and will get 2nd practice.

To ensure all teams plays at least 4 games there will be a consolation game played for teams outside top 12.

From all the winners of these consolation games 2 teams will be randomly selected and receive a free entry to next seasons Sun City Cup. Consolation games will be played over 6 ends and highest ranked after groupstage starts practice and has choice of hammer.

Practice & LSD

10 minutes before scheduled starting time there is 5 min practice per team where team first on the schedule plays first with yellow stones. In first game there is a coinflip to decide who starts due to un-even amount of games. Team that has had practice plays one LSD. First team chooses anti clockwise or clockwise rotation. Next team plays the opposite rotation.

This LSD is to decide hammer and later used to decide playoff-teams through the overall ranking. (Womens divisions will use internal rankings ahead of LSD in the group)

No LSD will be removed since there are only 3 LSD.

Practice and LSD will be announced.

Dinner

• Dinner Saturday from 18:00 / 6pm at the rink included for 4 people. Additional people can pay by scanning the QR codes at the entrance to the cafe and spectator level. (200,–). All dinner guests will be added to a list so write your name when scanning and paying on your phone.
